Thesis and Solution
A local Wedding Planner was looking to expand their business and had moved into engagement parties and bachelor and bachelorette parties. However, they had stumbled with the bachelor and bachelorette parties.
They had utilized some “trendy” party bus companies but the result was always the same. The vehicle was never as advertised and the service levels were poor at best.
They approached us looking for a better solution. Somebody who could deliver an extraordinary experience both in the party buses and limos they offered as well as superior service with the chauffeurs who drove them.
Based on their anticipated volume, we onboarded additional vehicles and assigned them a Key Account Manager who their brides and grooms to be could work with. We worked with them to design their bachelor and bachelorette parties and as an extension, it provided the beginning of a working relationship for the wedding itself.
For the Wedding Planner, they gained credibility with their clients and for Kevin Smith Transportation Group, a chance to expand our reach within the wedding space.
Key Challenge
The client was planning weddings large and small. However, when it came to bachelor and bachelorette party planning, the experiences were coming up short. They were experiencing poor service and less than stellar vehicles when renting party buses and limousines.
While it didn’t jeopardize their wedding clients (they were too far along to change course), it did negatively impact their long-term brand. Ultimately, the idea of “chasing” lower pricing let to bad experiences.

Alternatives
Our client had very few alternatives. They could get out of the entire space altogether, giving up the extra revenue stream that arranging these parties was worth to them.
They could continue to try and strong-arm their existing providers, hoping they would improve service or invest in better vehicles. However, that was likely a ship they couldn’t turn.
Fundamentally, they decided that to maintain the value of their brand, they needed to drastically improve service and to do that, they need a new partner.
Proposed Solution
The best solution was a new partner and that partner needed to make an investment in the relationship. We proposed purchasing new vehicles, providing a dedicated account team and proposed bridging the relationship between the bachelor and bachelorette party and the wedding reception.
The new 28 passenger Party Bus became the featured vehicle for our client. They actually began pitching it during their initial meetings, providing a value-add to their wedding clients. It was a win for them and their brides and grooms.
Lessons Learned
Like every engagement we have, the lesson is clear. To be a luxury brand, you need to deliver on service. Our client wanted to stand out for what they offered and to do that, they needed the partner who would make the right commitment.
We made the day one investment and that has led to a long-term partnership that brings value to all parties. Nothing replaces the investment of luxury service and by doing so, we are seeing the returns continue both with this client and others in the industry.
