How to Successfully Plan a Bachelor or Bachelorette Party

How to Successfully Plan a Bachelor or Bachelorette Party

Held in the run up to the wedding, bachelor or bachelorette parties are a time and place for the bride or groom to enjoy a fabulous time with their closest friends before the big day. Whether you’re planning an epic international trip, road trip, night out, or even night in with your nearest and dearest, there are some planning rules that never change.
Here’s how to make sure that your bachelor or bachelorette party goes off without a hitch!

The guestlist

Task number one: decide who’s invited. When it comes to bachelor or bachelorette parties, the general rule is that only the bride or groom’s closest friends are invited. Make sure to give everyone on the guestlist a heads up before the official invite goes out, so that you have an estimate on numbers before finalizing your plan.

Budgeting

This isn’t the fun part, but it’s a necessary element. The next thing you need to think about is what the budget for the event will be. You will need to take into account what the bride/groom wants to do while also considering the budgets of everyone invited. After all, where’s the fun in a party that most of your friends can’t attend?

Date(s) and location

Now we’re getting to the good part! Try to pick a date (or dates) that suit as many people as possible. This will be closely intertwined with where you are planning to host the party. If you’re going out of town, for example, the dates may be harder to fix.

Decorations & props

Any party can be elevated with fun decorations and props. If your party is themed, this is a lot easier. If it isn’t, you may need to employ a little more creativity in your shopping. For bachelor parties, comic or gag props are generally very popular, while at bachelorette parties it might be wiser to have camera or Insta-worthy props so all the girls can get in on the fun (we aren’t ruling out gag props for the girls either, though!).

Games & activities

What will you actually do at your party? If you’re going out, planning this part will be a breeze with so many activities to choose from. If you’re staying in, this is something the planner will need to take into consideration. Don’t let things get boring! Spice up the evening with games – there are plenty to choose from – that everyone can enjoy together.

Outfits

Whether it’s a bachelor or a bachelorette, matching outfits are both a lot of fun, and a way to easily identify your group (if you’re out). This doesn’t have to be a whole outfit. Accessories such as sashes, hats, or wigs, color themes, or a myriad of other things, can accomplish it just as easily.

Capture it

Don’t forget to capture all the special moments by keeping your camera, or phone camera, at the ready. Despite all your planning, you never know what will go down the day or night of. Surprises usually await and you won’t want to forget them.
