History
Eddington, PA is a community located in Bucks County, PA. The community was part of Cornwells Heights-Eddington, which was split into two separate communities. The population is estimated at 1,906. The community is served by the Eddington station along SEPTA Regional Rail‘s Trenton Line.
Eddington station is a SEPTA Regional Rail station in Bensalem Township, Pennsylvania. It is located on Street and Dunksferry Roads, 18.2 miles from 30th Street Station, and serves the Trenton Line. Its name derives from the surrounding CDP of Eddington.
The station is in zone 3 on the SEPTA Trenton Line, on the Amtrak Northeast Corridor. In 2004, this station saw 38 boardings on an average weekday. Amtrak does not stop at this station. The former Pennsylvania Railroad depot at Eddington was burned down in late September 1956 as part of a suspected arson.
Trenton Line trains make local stops along Amtrak‘s Northeast Corridor between Philadelphia and Trenton, NJ. The section of Northeast Corridor the Trenton Line uses is a 4-track railroad, from 30th Street Station via the Philadelphia Zoo (without stopping there), to North Philadelphia, before running parallel to I-95 and then US 13 for several miles. It crosses the Delaware River at Trenton, New Jersey before making its final stop at Trenton Transit Center, which is also served by Amtrak and New Jersey Transit trains.
