Our Story
My roommate from college and his wife were coming into town and we wanted to plan something fun. We also have a couple of close friends that live near us that we wanted to include. However, we wanted to do something different than the normal night out to dinner.
Doing some research online we came across some blogs on wine tours in the area. Included in this list was a blog posted by a local limo company called Kevin Smith Transportation Group. After reading their blog, we knew we landed with the right company.
We spoke to all of the couples and they were immediately “in”! So we researched some local wineries and landed on going to Penns Woods Winery.

Penns Woods Winery is a family-run winery. They have over 40 years of experience in the wine business and the neat thing is they sell their wine not just directly at their winery but you can also find a limited selection at local wine shops and restaurants.

Our Wine Tour
We ended up with 7 couples coming along including us. We booked an 18 passenger party bus with Kevin Smith Transportation Group. This allowed us plenty of room to stretch out without feeling cramped.
The party bus picked us up at our house at 9 am. Everyone had come over in the morning for a light breakfast and some mimosas. As soon as we entered the party bus, we knew it was going to be a great day. All I can say is wow.
Multiple TV’s, a crazy sound system and the lights were dancing, even that early in the morning. We had about an hour to drive there so we certainly had plenty to do to entertain ourselves.
We had scheduled a wine tasting on the outside patio so when we arrived, we were seated there. The staff was excellent and they did a great job of walking us through the different wines. Two couples weren’t big wine drinkers so they really made sure that everyone was comfortable.
After the tasting, we moved to the outdoor patio and sat around for hours. We told stories, old and new, and laughed a ton. At no time did we think the winery wanted us to move on and it made for a perfect afternoon. Unfortunately, we knew it had to end.
We got back into the party bus for the ride back and to be honest, the party actually went up a notch! The music was pumping and nobody wanted to get out. However, eventually, we arrived back home we so unloaded our newly purchased wine and spent the evening in the backyard grilling and telling our favorite stories of the day.

Fun Facts about Penns Woods Winery
The most amazing thing about Penns Woods Winery is their event schedule. When I say they offer something for everybody, it is 100% true.
Through the year they offer yoga in the vineyard, music acts, specialized tastings, and even a 5K run. There is no limit to the number of festivities ongoing.
They are extremely family and pet friendly and offer specialized events for that group (more family than pets!) Their live music schedule is really extraordinary and worth checking out.
In addition, they have won a lot of awards! I mean a lot! While the list is too long to mention, the Berlin International Wine Competition voted them the winery of the year in PA in 2016, 2017 and in 2018! I have to imagine that is not an easy award to win once, let alone 3 years in a row.
They are also only closed 4 days a year so a visit to Penns Woods Winery isn’t just a summer idea. Consider checking them out all year long. You can’t go wrong.
Transportation Options
If you are considering booking a Wine Tour with Kevin Smith Transportation Group, know that there are many vehicle options to choose from.
Stretch Limousines
Kevin Smith Transportation Group offers a variety of stretch limousine options when we called them. They included Lincoln MKT’s that could handle up to 8 passengers and a gorgeous white Stretch Denali that could handle up to 18 passengers.
Party Buses
When we called, the Party Bus options were amazing. Besides all of the extra space you get, the music, televisions and other features made it a really nice option. The coolest option was that they have Party Buses for groups of to 28. For those people planning a Wine Tour for a large group, these are perfect.
Luxury Sedans and SUV’s
For smaller groups or couples, a luxury sedan or SUV is perfect. You don’t have to worry about driving while tasting all of the amazing wines that are offered at the Pennsylvania Wineries and you can simply sit back, relax and enjoy the entire experience.
Last Words
This is a great winery if you are looking to do more than just drink a glass of wine. Great wines and a great staff makes this a must return for my wife and I in 2019.
