It’s the most wonderful time of the year! Snow is falling, decorations are up and what could be more magical than that warm fuzzy feeling you get when your family and friends are all together? If you’re looking for a safe, fun way to celebrate the holidays a Christmas light tour might just be the perfect option. Visit the Garden Railways, and get lost under the gaze of half a million lights at Longwood Gardens. Here are all the details you need to have the perfect Longwood Christmas.
Ride in Style
The holidays are the perfect time to relax and spend quality time with your friends and family. Don’t worry about parking, GPS, traffic or missing your slot by booking limo service, or shuttle service if your crew is a bit larger. You can enjoy sipping on some spiked cocoa on the way, and not fret about picking a designated driver. All guests in your party have to enter the admissions queue at the same time, so shuttle service or renting a party bus means everyone will arrive together.
Ticketing
The Gardens are open from 10:00 am to 11:00 pm during A Longwood Christmas, and the lights start to come on at 12 pm. Advance Timed Tickets or free timed Member Reservations are needed for entry. It’s important to call ahead or book your tickets online before you visit as you cannot purchase tickets at the venue. Re-entry is also not permitted, so enjoy as much as you want before you pop out.
Safety Matters
In the new normal, it’s always safety first! Before you visit, you’ll get an email detailing the visitor guidelines at the Gardens. Face masks are mandatory for everyone over the age of 2. Maintaining a distance of 6 feet from members outside your party is also encouraged.
Plan Ahead
Unfortunately, print maps won’t be available this year, but it’s super easy to print and download the map at home. There’s a fair bit of walking to be done outdoors, so wear comfortable shoes and warm clothes. If you want to eat at 1906, the fine dining restaurant, you’ll need to make a reservation beforehand via OpenTable. You can also grab a bite at The Terrace which has both outdoor and indoor seating.
