How Much Do Wedding Flowers Cost in 2019?

It’s estimated that in 2019, 9% of your total budget will most likely go to wedding flowers.  However, it is important to realize that your spend will depend on what’s most important to you as far as wedding decor is concerned.

When we spoke to local Wedding Planners, they said they have seen brides spend as little as $250 on their wedding flowers and as much as $25,000.  The cost will definitely vary depending on your tastes and the number of flowers you’ll need.

To give you a better idea of what you can expect to spend, we asked our Wedding Planners what the average cost by type of wedding arrangement that they expect to see in 2019.

  1. Bridal Bouquets: $100 to $175 each
  2. Bridesmaids Bouquets: $50 to $100 each
  3. Flower girl petals: $30 to $75 each
  4. Corsages : $12 to $20 each
  5. Boutonnieres: $12-$18 each
  6. Altar Arrangements : $45 to $135 each
  7. Place Setting : $10 to $25 each
  8. Head Table Centerpieces: $50 to $250 each
  9. Guest Table Centerpieces: $25 to $125 each
  10. Cake Flowers: $30 to $135 each

It is important to note that these costs can also vary widely not just by type but also the timing of the season.  So when trying to determine the cost of Wedding flowers in 2019, give yourself some wiggle room as the costs will be hard to confirm until everything is selected.

Breakdown of Costs for Wedding Flowers in 2019

If using a florist, the cost of a consultation, delivery, and set-up is typically included as they are motivated to help you plan your budget and book with them!  Our Wedding Planners suggested telling your florist how much you want to spend so you can see what your options are within that budget.

One tip a Wedding Planner shared with us was to see if any of your ceremony flowers can be re-used during your reception. For example, your bridal/bridesmaids bouquets could end up on two of the family tables.

Tips for Wedding Flowers in 2019

  1. Spend more money on your reception/ceremony flowers vs. the bouquets. People will literally see them for 5 minutes!
  2. Use more candles and fewer flowers. If your wedding is at night, the candles will have more impact than the flowers, anyway.
  3. Use flowers with bigger blooms (such as hydrangeas) to fill out a vase. Alternatively, you can cluster together less expensive flowers such as carnations and baby’s breath for an inexpensive yet full arrangement.
  4. Fill out tables with fruit such as strawberries (for a summer wedding), pineapples, lemons, and apples for color were not using flowers.
  5. Use potted plants in addition to flowers.
