Monterey Jazz Festival at the Kimmel Center

One of the world’s longest running and most iconic events, the Monterey Jazz Festival is celebrating its 65th year with a once-in-a-lifetime ensemble featuring Tony and Grammy Award-winning, NEA Jazz Master vocalist Dee Dee Bridgewater, Grammy Award-winning vocalist Kurt Elling, and rising star saxophonist Lakecia Benjamin.
Philadelphia Orchestra: A Celestial Odyssey at the Kimmel Center
April 13-16, 2023
Where The Philadelphia Orchestra combines two cosmic compositions: Richard Strauss’ Also sprach Zarathustra (introduced to many by Stanley Kubrick’s 2001: A Space Odyssey) and jazz pianist Mary Lou Williams’ Zodiac Suite, a 12-section masterpiece dedicated to renowned musicians born under each astrological sign.
Philadanco! Moving … Beyond Forward at the Kimmel Center
April 21-23, 2023
Philadelphia’s favorite dance company, PHILADANCO! returns with Moving…Beyond Forward which introduces a newly constructed ballet, a premiere celebrative dance featuring the amazing PHILADANCO! women, and a Tommie-Waheed Evans debut world premiere exploring race and sexuality and featuring the entire dance company.
Step Afrika! at Miller Theater
Friday, April 28, 2023 | 7 p.m.
Founded in 1944, Step Afrika! was the first professional company dedicated to the tradition of stepping and now tours more than 50 countries around the world, ranking as one of the top ten African-American dance companies in the United States. Prepare for an evening of precision dance moves, storytelling, humor and a dash of audience participation.
